Introduction, Toccatas and Hymns (2013)

Written for and performed at the first Applause Music festival.
I like to contrast the opposite textures of static chordal hymns and the fluid embelishments of toccata’s. In the introduction motives that all derive from 1 row, are presented. The thematic material is presented in 4 different ways. Each recapitulation the texture has changed from toccata to hymn, or vice versa.
